The Covid-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the global economy. It has contributed to the decline of economic and business activities, rising unemployment, and inequality (Utthamchandani & Muro, 2021; Acemoglu, 2021). According to the Islamic Development Bank Working Group on the Covid-19 Crisis and Islamic Finance, the current crisis seems to have more adverse impact on the real GDP than the 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC). However, once the pandemic is under control, the economic recovery can be faster than the post-GFC period.

Concerning the economic recovery in the post-pandemic period, the Islamic economic and finance system can be more relevant for two reasons (1) the integration of financial and real sector and (2) the Maqashid Syariah principles that promote justice, fairness, and protection to the environment and marginal groups of the society. In view of this notion, the Islamic economic and finance system can play a more substantial role in accelerating the economic recovery in the post-pandemic episode.

To facilitate the exchange of ideas about the economic recovery in the post-pandemic time, the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Andalas in Collaboration with Komite Ekonomi dan Keuangan Syariah (KNEKS), Ikatan Ahli Ekonomi Islam Indonesia (IAEI), IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), University College Bahrain (UCB), Institute Agama Islam Negeri Kudus, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam Universitas Islam Negeri Imam Bonjol (FEBI UIN IB) would like to present:
